If you are looking for the perfect place to chill with friends but getting bored of crowded tourist bars, there is a street bar situated in JJ Market named Tha Chang having the refreshing atmosphere of a popular hangout without the blaring noise of many clubs.

The Tha Chang Street Bar which is in Zone B of the JJ market occupies mainly a large uncovered storefront sidewalk lot flanked by two restored antique Volkswagen vans serving as working stations.

Tha Chang, even though, started off as a small bar, it recently has boomed into a hotspot for locals, foreigners or even celebrities.

The music there is all hot off the tracks with an interesting twist of reggae inspiration, while live bands and full moon parties are occasionally featured, though for most of the time DJ music provides the background mood with several loudspeakers discreetly positioned around the premises.

Since the owners themselves do not like to be pestered by harassing wait-staff when they are out drinking elsewhere, the atmosphere at the Tha Chang is therefore very relaxed as the clientele is left pretty much by themselves but always under watchful eyesight of the staff.

The signature “bucket” is the crowd's favourite beverage. The "bucket" comes in three different tasty fluorescent colours: red, yellow and green, each with a corresponding alcohol quality. This ensures that each income bracket can enjoy their evening to their fullest content.

As well as the buckets, Tha Chang also has the bar classics of beer, whiskey and a limited selection of cocktails. On weekends, it is best to arrive before nine for this outdoor bar is making itself known as a very pleasant venue for a night on the town with friends.

Prices for appetizers and drinks are modest: 80 Baht for imported beers while local beers cost between 50 Baht for Chang and 70 Baht for Singha. 390 Baht is charged for a fifth of 100 Pipers whisky and a pint of a local whisky Saengsom costs 150 Baht, while the local appetizers are between 48 Baht and 128 Baht.

Business Hours:  08.00 p.m. - 12.00 p.m. on weekdays
08.00 p.m. - 01.00 a.m. on weekends
